Eighteen years ago they were two brothers with one costume and a dream. Today
their dream meets reality.
With more than 35 costumes and endless opportunity to entertain audiences of all
ages, the Latkovski brothers are among the minority that has found success in
what they love to do. “Giving people a smile, a laugh, and bringing enjoyment
and entertainment into their world is a responsibility we take seriously,”
says co-founder, co-owner and President Dominic Latkovski. “We love what
we do. We have passion and are committed to what we believe in. For these reasons
we will be successful.”
Heavily into athletics, the young Latkovski family’s favorite source of
entertainment was attending the Louisville Redbirds’ AAA baseball games.
When the opportunity opened to perform as “Billy Bird”, the Redbirds’
mascot, Dominic did not hesitate. He made the most of this chance to follow his
dream and start a career in professional sports entertainment. He was 19 years-old,
but was hooked on performing as a part-time mascot. “The humor was for kids
really, but the more chances I took, the more it seemed fans of all ages were
connecting. That’s when I knew I could do this for a living.”
It’s also when Dominic developed the signature act, with assistance from
dancing brother Brennan (co-founder, co-owner and President) and their father’s
brains behind the creation of the “dancing umpire skit”. The family
admits this was the single best idea they had until their father proved again
to be a tour de force mascot Svengali and suggested creating “Harry Canary”
(a bird character named in honor of the late, great Harry Caray).
