Songwriter, Performer and Entertainer. The powerful music of John Lee Hooker Jr. will strongly move all that hear! His songs are filled with spirit and passion. His message is both controversial, and uncompromised. In his youth he learned showmanship from friends and legendary artists like the late greats Jimmy Reed and Big Mama Thorton. The young man absorbed the style, energy and the attitude needed to become a consummate performer. John Lee Hooker Jr. has earned a spot as a featured singer in The Coast To Coast Blues Band.

Pimpin' the Blues w JLH Jr., August 23, 2006
Reviewer: Steve Oldham (La Verne, CA)
I've been a big fan of JLH Sr. for years,he phrased my favorite idiom: "The blues is just a good man feelin' bad"...I love that expression and I loved the music of the man who wrote ait and sang for many decades. In looking for obscure JLH Sr. discs I bought the new Jr. album thinking it was a re-release of early Sr. material. To my surprise, I'm greeted with a voice reminiscient of Lou Rawls or evena touch of Sammy (Davis, another great Jr.)...Boom, Boom is just a pleasure to riff through...the updated phrasing and enthusiasm is truly infectious. His re-working of One Bourbon/Scotch/Beer is again a nod to pops, but a responsible twist for the present. I hear a little hip-hop touch in The Blues are a Pimp, and a sense of humour is laced into a couple of the tunes. All in all, a great play through and througha nd a nice follow-up to a blues legend, I miss you Sr., but I'll be there in Santa MOnica to see your son at the end of Oct. Don't miss Blues w/ a Vengeance and re-experience a "young hooker"...Steve Oldham
